Individual therapy

Therapy Services in Winston-Salem, NC

I work individually with clients age 16 and older, in person or virtually. Therapy is tailored to you—your goals, your history, and what you hope will change—rather than following one universal method.

You don't need to diagnose yourself before reaching out.

People do not always arrive knowing which category best describes what they are going through. You may know that worry is taking up too much space, that a past experience still feels present, or simply that your usual ways of coping are no longer enough.

Part of my role is to understand what you're experiencing, what you hope will change, and which approach may make sense for you. We can begin there, without requiring you to have the language figured out first.

Common areas of support

What therapy can make room for

01

Anxiety

Anxiety can look like a mind that will not slow down, tension in the body, irritability, trouble concentrating, or avoiding situations that feel overwhelming. It can shape sleep, relationships, and everyday decisions.

I approach anxiety with curiosity rather than judgment. Depending on your needs, I may draw from ACT, CBT, and mindfulness to help you notice patterns, respond to anxious thoughts differently, and build steadier ways of coping.

02

Trauma & PTSD

Difficult experiences can continue affecting the present through unwanted memories, feeling constantly alert, trouble sleeping, avoidance, numbness, shame, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others.

My trauma work begins with safety and moves at a pace that feels manageable. We may focus first on grounding and stability, then use trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, DBT skills, or EMDR when appropriate. You remain in control of what you share and when.

03

Coping Skills & Emotional Wellbeing

Stress, life transitions, strong emotions, and communication challenges can leave you feeling stuck, shut down, or unlike yourself. Therapy can help you recognize what you are feeling and what tends to trigger it, giving you more choice in how you respond.

I use a strengths-based approach and may draw from ACT, mindfulness, CBT, and solution-focused strategies. Together, we can practice emotional regulation, distress tolerance, clearer communication, and practical coping skills that fit your real life.

A specialized option

EMDR Therapy

EMDR is a structured therapy that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or alternating taps, to help distressing memories feel less overwhelming. It is one tool among several and may be incorporated when it fits your needs—not a requirement or the only way I work.

Who I work with

I see clients age 16 and older for one-on-one therapy, in person at the Reynolda Road office or virtually. Some people come in with a clear concern; others simply know something feels off and want space to sort it out. Both are welcome.

Other concerns I support

Alongside these focus areas, I work with depression and mood concerns, stress, self-esteem, life transitions, ADHD, anger, and challenges in family and peer relationships. These experiences often overlap, and therapy can address them together without reducing you to a list of symptoms.

Not sure where your concern fits? Reach out and ask. That's what the free consultation is for.

Insurance & fees

I accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Aetna, including the Aetna State Health Plan. Coverage varies by plan, so please contact me to discuss your individual situation.

If I'm not in network with your insurance, I can provide a superbill: an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your plan about your out-of-network benefits.

A 90-minute intake session is $185 and a 55-minute session is $165. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are subject to a $75 fee.

If cost is keeping you from getting the care you need, please reach out. I'm glad to talk through your situation and explore whether a reduced rate or sliding-scale option might work.
